Lisa Jane Vanderpump (born 15 September 1960) is an English former actress, businesswoman, and television personality. She is best known as an original main cast member on the Bravo reality television series The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills.

Vanderpump has served as a main cast member and one of the longest-running executive producers on Vanderpump Rules.

Early life[]

Lisa Jane Vanderpump was born in Dulwich, London, England on 15 September 1960, as the youngest of two children to John Vanderpump and Jean Vanderpump. Her birth was registered in Dartford, Kent. Her older brother was Mark Vanderpump.

Vanderpump started ballet lessons at three. She attended Riverston School in Lee Green, South London. She was enrolled in the Corona Academy drama school in Hammersmith, London, at the age of nine. She graduated in 1977.

Vanderpump had two Persian cats growing up. One was run over, she said: "I remember the devastation of losing what was like a family member." She got her first dog at the age of 18.

Vanderpump bought herself a flat in Fulham, West London by the age of 19. She was financially self-sufficient after leaving home, with "just a good education and a kick in the arse."

Career[]

Vanderpump made her film debut at the age of 13, as an uncredited extra in the 1973 romantic comedy A Touch of Class, portraying Julia Allessio, the daughter of Glenda Jackson's character. Her credited film debut was as Anne in the 1978 horror Killer's Moon. Her final film appearance was as Heidi Porter in the 1995 psychological thriller Separate Lives.

Vanderpump appears in the 1980s music videos for "Poison Arrow" (1982) by the pop band ABC and "(What) In The Name of Love" (1984) by the new wave duo Naked Eyes. She portrayed Samantha in the 1983 documentary "Mantrap", also by ABC. She appears in the 2014 music video for "G.U.Y." by Lady Gaga.

Vanderpump has appeared in over 100 commercials for brands including Maltesers, Lilt, Britvic 55 and Hamlet cigars.

Vanderpump and Ken Todd have accumulated a large and very successful portfolio of restaurants, bars, and clubs since 1995. They sold four of their bars to the Trocadero group in 1998 for £10.5 million. They owned numerous establishments before moving to the United States, including The Shadow Lounge, Bar Soho, a Cheers-themed megabar, and Jewel. They partnered with another husband-and-wife team, Guillermo Zapata and Nathalie Pouille Zapata, to become co-owners of SUR Restaurant & Lounge, in 2005. They opened Villa Blanca in 2009, and closed the establishment in 2020, during the COVID-19 pandemic. They opened Pump Restaurant in 2014, and closed the establishment in 2023. They partnered with duo Tom Sandoval and Tom Schwartz as co-owners of Tom Tom Restaurant & Bar, in 2018. They opened Vanderpump Cocktail Garden at Caesars Palace in 2019. They opened Vanderpump à Paris at Paris Las Vegas in 2022. Wolf By Vanderpump is set to open at Harvey's Lake Tahoe in winter 2023. Pinky's By Vanderpump is set to open at Flamingo Las Vegas in summer 2024.

Vanderpump made her debut as an original main cast member on the Bravo reality television series The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills in 2010. She announced her departure from the series on 3 June 2019 after nine seasons.

Vanderpump launched Very Vanderpump, a lifestyle blog, in 2012.

Vanderpump currently serves as a main cast member and an executive producer on the first spin-off from The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, Vanderpump Rules. She is one of the longest-running executive producers on the series, serving under Evolution Media since the shows inception on 7 January 2013. Vanderpump Rules was nominated for two Emmy awards in 2023.

Vanderpump launched Vanderpump Vodka, her first alcoholic beverage, in 2013. She launched LVP Sangria, her second alcoholic beverage, in 2014. She later rebranded the beverage to Vanderpump Sangria.

Vanderpump was named editor-in-chief of Beverly Hills Lifestyle Magazine in 2017. She departed the position in 2018.

Vanderpump launched Vanderpump Rosé, her first wine, in 2017. She launched Vanderpump Chardonnay and Vanderpump Cabernet, her second and third wine, in 2020, after the success of her rosé and spinning her venture into Vanderpump Wines.

Vanderpump served as an executive producer on the 2017 spin-off from Vanderpump Rules, Vanderpump Rules: Jax & Brittany Take Kentucky.

Vanderpump partnered with Nick Alain to launch Vanderpump Alain, a home collections line, in 2019.

Vanderpump appeared on E!'s Overserved with Lisa Vanderpump in March 2021. The series focuses on Vanderpump and she hosts celebrity guest and cooks intimate meals. Also in March, she featured as a judge on ABC's Pooch Perfect. The series was hosted by Rebel Wilson, and featured Jorge Bendersky and Dr. Callie Harris as judges. Vanderpump was featured on a second spin-off from The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, Peacock's Vanderpump Dogs, in June. The series focuses on Vanderpump and her staff as they run her dog foundation/rescue centre.

Vanderpump serves as an executive producer on the 2024 spin-off from Vanderpump Rules, The Valley.

Vanderpump has appeared on the Hulu reality television series Vanderpump Villa, since April 1, 2024.

Charity work[]

Vanderpump has been a steadfast advocate for the LGBT community. She often hosts Pride parades.

Vanderpump co-organised a peaceful protest march against the Yulin Dog Meat Festival in 2015, the march went from MacArthur Park to the Chinese Consulate General in Los Angeles and started a movement to end the abuse, torture and slaughter of dogs worldwide. She also co-launched the Stop Yulin Forever campaign.

Vanderpump is a co-founder of Vanderpump Dogs. The Vanderpump Dog Foundation was launched online on 29 March 2016. She opened the Vanderpump Dogs rescue center in Los Angeles on 1 March 2017. She also owns and operates two rescue centres in China. Since the COVID-19 pandemic hit the United States, she has raised $383,511.14 through Cameo for her foundation, as of February 2023. Vanderpump Dogs has saved "approximately 3,000 dogs domestically from kill shelters to date", as of February 2023.

Vanderpump served as a producer on The Road To Yulin And Beyond, an awareness documentary, drawing attention to the Yulin Dog Meat Festival's barbaric practice.

Personal life[]

Vanderpump met her husband, businessman Ken Todd, who is 16 years her senior, through her brother, at Cork's Wine Bar, in Kensington, London, in May 1982. The couple got engaged in June, after six weeks of dating and were married on 28 August 1982, at a United Reformed Church in Kensington & Chelsea, London. She was 21 and he was 37. The couple renewed their vows on their 30th anniversary in 2012. They have two children: Pandora and Max. She has a grandson, Theodore, from her daughter and son-in-law, Jason.

Vanderpump moved to Beverly Hills, California, in 2005. She resides at Villa Rosa. She has lived in London, the South of France, and Monte Carlo. She once owned a moated mansion in the Cotswolds. She sold her Beverly Park home in 2011 for $18.8 million and bought her $12 million estate, in the Beverly Crest neighbourhood. She also owns a French château in Carcassonne, France.

Vanderpump received the Key to the City of Beverly Hills in March 2013, by the then-mayor Jimmy Delshad, who also declared March 1 'Lisa Vanderpump Day', in recognition of her charitable and philanthropic work.

Vanderpump tested positive for COVID-19 in January 2022 and later made a full recovery.
